Sherry Wilson Butler, born and raised in Philadelphia, has a diverse portfolio of artistic accomplishments as a performing and recording artist, actress, producer, writer, and vocal teacher-coach. A beloved veteran in the entertainment business, Sherry Wilson Butler has shared the stage with Patti LaBelle, Gerald Veasley, Teddy Pendergrass, Monnette Sudler, Stephanie Mills, Rachelle Farrell, Billy Paul, and many other celebrated artists. An esteemed artist in her own right, Sherry’s musical capacity is vast as she is well capable of engaging listeners in a variety of genres, including contemporary jazz, soul, pop, gospel, and funk. Over the years, she has awed and inspired audiences at festivals, concerts, small restaurants/venues, large stadiums, colleges, universities, military installations, and corporate and speciality events throughout the United States, Europe and the Caribbean Islands.


A 2016 Lil Drummaboy “Groundbreaker Award ”recipient  for lifetime achievements, success, & dedication to the music industry.  As well, the award acknowledges the  mentorship and cultivation of talents for numerous aspiring artists

Conscious of what an artist is charged to do, Sherry Wilson Butler, definitively directs the energy of her vocal deliverance to affect an audience in a range of emotions from healing, love, grief, inspiration, determination, motivation, and passion. Audiences rise to their feetas she sings, eagerly anticipating her next note. Her sultry, deep contralto voice, leading to comparisons of artists like Sarah Vaughn, Betty Carter, Phyllis Hyman, and Dianne Reeves has captivated audiences for more than 30 years in cities across the United States as well as Europe and the Caribbean.

Wilson Butler has been winning in music & education for years. A part of her legacy includes her Platinum Award for her vocal performance on Teddy Pendergrass’ CD  “It’s Time For Love.”Butler is deep rooted in the “Philly Sound.Artists whom she has performed with include Billy Paul, Teddy Pendergrass, Patti LaBelle, Gerald Veasley, MonnetteSudler, John Blake, Derrick Hodges-bassist with Terrance Blanchard, trumpeter-Duane Eubanks, Justin Faulkner-drummer with Branford Marsalis, the Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble, and percussionist Doc Gibbs, among others.Sherry’s performances in highly acclaimed venues include the London Palladium; Toshi’s& Carnegie Hall-NY; LA’s Greek Theater; Academy of Music-Phila., PA; International festival circuit- Cape May, NJ, Venice-Verona, Italy, Anguilla, W.I., Germany, England.

Sherry is a Life Long Learner…Currently she holds a Bachelors degree in Communication Arts and Music; and a Masters In Education, She continues to study in various programs and expects to complete a summer seminar certification program, which will acquaint attendees with a thorough introduction to vocal technique, vocal health, approaches to different styles of music, and the changing needs of the singer and speaker throughout life.  Topics include: Bio-mechanics of the Voice: The relationship of breath, vocal fold function, and resonance; Healthy Voice Production: The McClosky approach teaches these methods through posture, breathing, and relaxation of key muscle groups. Additional issues addressed are Care of the Mature Voice, Appropriate vocal hygiene as the voice matures, Common Voice Disorders: A review and discussion, usually with an M.D., Relationship of Speech and Singing: Demonstration and practice of careful voice use. Additional related classes as enlisted.

Sherry Wilson Butler has been working as an independent artist from the onset of her career. Although as a young teen Sherry’s focus was developingher artistry with variousother groups and recording labels locally and oversees, at the forefront of her vision has and will always be performing for the people; about the people; with the people.  As an artist, educator and businesswoman, Wilson Butler soon learned that in order to be a major part of the decision making in her career,it was mandatory to take the lead in not only performing, but in managing herself.
